Purchased in 2022, this 30 year old van was a challenging project vehicle turned adventure rig. Sold in 2024 as I prepared to move back to Idaho.
Three years ago I started the rebuild at 212,000 miles. Currently at 225,000 miles and increasing. For a 31 year old VW van, this is one of the best you can find. Lots of upgrades and extras. Very reliable, lots of long journeys in the last 6 months to prove that. The engine was torn apart and in boxes in the back when this beauty came into my life. I had no idea that saving this van from the junk yard was such a big endeavor.
A 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan RV (T4) Westfalia with the 2.5L inline 5 cylinder (AAF) attached to a manual 5 speed. Known as the most reliable of the Eurovan platforms, the engine was been freshly rebuilt and ran strong. None of the Winnebago camper crap that just breaks and is impossible to fix. Just what you need for a modern adventure.
New engine parts: pistons, rings, bearings, idler pulleys, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, water pump, serpentine belt, timing belt, timing belt tensioner, distributor + cap, spark plugs, ignition wires, temperature sensors, idle air valve, head gasket, valves, valve springs, thermostat, fuel pump relay, ecu relay, throttle position sensor, thermal fan switch, fan relays (all 5), intake pressure sensor, engine starter. All new gaskets (NO OIL LEAKS!)
New on drivetrain: transmission, clutch master and slave cylinders, cv axels, 18" black rims with new tires, new lug nuts, alignment, front brakes, front brake rotors front wheel bearings, front and rear shocks.
Interior improvements: new 3 window canvas for the pop-top, passenger side swivel seat with lockable safe below, new rear window, new gray dash mat, beaded seat covers, steering wheel cover, custom fit floor mats, aftermarket center console with storage and cup holders.
Electronic improvements: new ignition switch, new stereo/amp (Bluetooth), new dash and door speakers, backup camera with 8" dash screen, Goal zero 50 kW solar panel on roof with Yeti 250 power bank (easily upgradable - plug and play), new main engine battery, LED interior lighting, added LED party lights, power distribution panel to select van vs shore power, all new -working - dash lights, dash USB charging ports (3).
